Plant Overview
Sambucus Black Lace
Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace'
Sambucus 'Black Lace' is a deciduous shrub. Finely dissected, very dark purple-black foliage resembles delicate black lace fern — an extraordinary texture and color combination. Pink flower clusters add a soft contrast in summer. Vigorous and adaptable in moist, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Cut back hard in late winter to maintain size and encourage the most vibrant foliage. A dramatic focal point for large borders. Flowers attract pollinators; berries attract birds and can be used for elderberry products.
